Assistant Professor-Research The Ohio State University
Expertise: Advanced Manufacturing with a Focus on Materials Joining and Forming Processes, Finite Element Analysis, Process Simulations, Damage and Failure Analysis

Ali Nassiri earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire. Before joining the ISE department at the Ohio State University (OSU) as an Assistant Professor, he held positions as a Research Scientist at the Simulation Innovation and Modeling Center (SIMCenter) and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME) both at OSU. The overarching goal of Ali’s research is to fundamentally understand the material's behavior subjected to large plastic deformation during welding and forming processes. To achieve this goal, he employs a combination of cutting-edge multi-scale multi-physics numerical simulations, mechanical testing, and advanced materials characterization. Additionally, his research interests encompass diverse areas such as damage and failure analysis, process simulation, dynamic behavior of materials, and mathematical modeling.
